FZN Radio statement regarding Covid-19

Updated 17/03/2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent developments across the country, Northumbria Students’ Union has decided to close it’s building. Therefore, since this is where our studio is located, we have no choice but to close FZN Radio, effective immediately, until further notice.

We appreciate that this will be a troubling message for our members to receive and may cause inconvenience, but I want to reassure our members that this decision has been made with the safety of our volunteers in mind.

The entire show schedule has now been cancelled and I apologise to all our valuable listeners who tune in every day to enjoy the shows we produce and enjoy the hard work all of our presenters and behind the scenes team put into the station. I hope to have the station re-opened as soon as possible and we will work alongside the Students’ Union to get this done as quickly, and as safely as possible.

As many of you will be aware, the UK Government has now moved to the ‘delay’ phase of their strategy which aims to reduce and delay the impact of the virus. We see closing our studio as being part of these efforts for social distancing.

I look forward to re-opening the station as soon as possible and continuing with the brilliant work we started this year.

Stay safe.
